As we expand our investment in and development of clean energy projects in Vietnam, we are looking for candidates with strong professional skills, analytical thinking and a proactive attitude to join us as Renewable Energy Project Management and Development Specialists.
You will research investment opportunities, survey and assess project sites, analyse technical and economic feasibility, help carry out the legal procedures and move forward the development of wind, solar and battery energy storage system (BESS) projects.
Responsibilities
Researching and developing investment opportunities
- Identify, research and assess investment opportunities in wind, solar and BESS projects.
- Collect and analyse information on project sites, natural conditions, energy resource potential, load demand and grid connection capacity.
- Take part in site surveys and work with landowners, development partners, local authorities and other stakeholders.
- Build a database and pipeline of potential projects to support the company’s investment activities.
Technical assessment and development options
- Help carry out preliminary assessments of technical conditions, capacity, technology options and grid connection solutions.
- Contribute to studies of overall design options and the selection of technology and equipment suited to each project.
- Assess how renewable generation can be integrated with BESS, including operation, dispatch and power efficiency optimisation options.
- Work with consultants on pre-feasibility and feasibility studies and other specialist reports.
Investment analysis
- Gather input data and help build project financial models.
- Carry out preliminary analysis of total investment, operating costs, expected energy output, revenue, cash flow and investment performance indicators.
- Identify technical, market, legal, grid connection, land clearance and schedule risks.
- Propose development options, investment structures and ways to improve a project’s economic performance.
Permitting and project development
- Monitor and summarise laws and policies on investment, land, power planning, construction, the environment and electricity operations.
- Help prepare applications and documents for investment policy approval, investor selection, land, environmental, grid connection and other procedures required for each project.
- Track the progress of applications and work with government agencies, consultants and partners to resolve any issues.
Schedule management and coordination
- Prepare and update phased project development plans.
- Track progress and manage task lists, documentation and key project milestones.
- Coordinate with the technical, legal, finance and investment teams and with external partners.
- Prepare regular reports on project development progress and outstanding issues, with recommended solutions.
Requirements
Qualifications and experience
- A bachelor’s degree or higher in power systems, electrical engineering, energy, renewable energy, civil engineering or a related field.
- At least 2 years of experience in energy project development, energy investment, technical consulting or a related field is an advantage.
- Experience with wind, solar, BESS or energy infrastructure projects is preferred.
Professional skills
- Knowledge of power systems, renewable energy technologies, grid connection and related technical issues.
- Ability to research, consolidate and analyse technical, financial and legal information to assess projects.
- Understanding of the investment project development process in Vietnam; knowledge of planning, land, environmental, construction and related procedures is an advantage.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Microsoft Office and relevant specialist software; able to write reports, build spreadsheets and present investment proposals.
- Able to read technical documents in English.
Skills and attitude
- Analytical thinking, problem-solving skills and a strong sense of responsibility.
- Proactive, able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good communication skills for working with partners, consultants and the relevant authorities.
- Willing to travel and carry out site surveys when required.
